Website Design and Creation Service

Is your school website effective?

UK schools must have a website to comply with legislation. However, is your school making the best use of this necessity to communicate with your community? Consider these questions:

  1. Who uses your school website? What devices do they use, and how does your site look on those devices? Does it tell them what they want to know simply and succinctly? Does it make it easy to find things? Who should be using your school website?

  2. Does your school website provide all the information it’s required to publish? (To be sure, have a look at the DfE’s What maintained schools must publish online, and use the headings as a checklist - academies should refer to this page).

  3. Is your site up-to-date? Does it have pictures of children who are now at university? Is it easy to keep up to date?

  4. Do you have effective support when you run into problems, or when you want to develop and improve the site?

Of course, there are many more questions, but we can help.

Our websites

Our School Websites are designed to reflect the distinct ethos of your school, whilst ensuring that all users - parents, staff, children, governors and Ofsted inspectors - can find what they want easily. We also provide essential training for the staff who will be maintaining the site from day to day.

We have extensive experience of creating websites for schools.  These include first, primary, middle, high and special schools.

We focus on providing sites which delight pupils, prospective parents, parents of existing pupils, governors, staff and Ofsted inspectors.

We believe that - as well as providing vital information for all its users - a school website should aim to present the values, achievements, ethos and the unique character that makes your school different.

We don’t believe in unnecessary web page gimmicks for their own sake.  We use colours, fonts, animations, transitions and other resources only where they are appropriate and provide a positive contribution to the overall attractiveness and usability of the site.

Training and support

Before your site is launched we train you on the basic skills required to keep it running. Generally a couple of hours is all that’s needed, but if you need more that’s fine.

Once it’s up and running we welcome your support calls and emails, which we respond to in 24 hours.

Every year we offer a “refresh” service to help you clear out anything that’s out of date, and replace it with the latest photos, documents and stories.
